The Pastorate

The Brecon Beacons Pastorate was formed in 2004 and covers a number of chapels that are situated mostly in the Brecon Beacons National Park. We are a
close, congenial, inclusive and harmonious group who enjoy the respect of the area and the fellowship within our Pastorate organisation.

All the chapels within the Pastorate have a strong community ethos and all have their own styles and customs, reflecting our different communities.

The Pastorate enlarged to ten chapels in 2014 and this was organised to produce two ministries with five chapels in each. The division was geographical, and they became known as Brecon Beacons East and Brecon Beacons West. Our Minister for the East, is the Revd. Ian Kirby, whose Induction took place in January 2018. Ian was later joined by his wife Revd. Julie Kirby who was ordained and inducted into the pastorate in June 2019 who took on leadership of Brecon Beacons West.

However in summer 2021, Talgarth took the decision to close leaving 9 chapels in the pastorate

The Pastorate organisation underpins our worship in the Brecon Beacons. Although we are two separate ministries we work closely affording opportunity to come together and enjoy quarterly, combined worship, regular fellowship and other areas of interest (eg Bible Study). The Pastorate also maintains our ministry, raising funds for the financial obligations involved in the provision of ministry. We keep in touch with what is happening in each of our chapels by our bi-monthly magazine, ‘The Link/Y Ddolen’

Perhaps, one day soon, you may be able to come and join with us and find out for yourselves the merits and joy of our meetings and the place where we worship.
