'Sonrise'
Service on Easter Sunday
On Easter Sunday, we meet at ‘The Roundabout’ at the top of the Begwyns at
dawn. It is very special listening to readings from the Bible telling the
story of the first Easter, singing Easter hymns and saying prayers whilst
watching the sun appear on the horizon. Anyone (and their dog) is welcome to
join us. If you’re lucky, we may have lit a fire for warmth!
Songs of Praise
An annual celebration of congregational hymn singing along with items by
talented local singers to raise funds for Christian Aid.
Bilingual
Carol Service
What began as a fundraiser for the National Urdd Eisteddfod in 2018 has now
become a popular annual event. Welsh speakers, Welsh learners, and also
those with no or very little knowledge of Welsh join together to sing carols
in both languages and to hear Bible readings in both Welsh and English.
After the service, everyone stays on to enjoy treats such as mince pies and
mulled wine and to chat in their chosen language.
Christmas Day
On
Christmas Day we have informal, family worship for an hour. Last year, Cecil
the Sheep came to lead the child shepherds and their toy sheep around the
chapel in the search for the King’s palace. We had a time of reflection led
by our minister and then celebrated Jesus’ birthday with a birthday cake. A
local family added to the festive feel with their handbells. Everyone also
made prayer stars and hung them on our Christmas tree, to remember those
whose circumstances mean that they did not feel able to celebrate.
